Little Fluffy Head Cafe brings new cheese tea trend to Downtown Los Angeles
2017 has been a year filled with Instagram-worthy drinks (see: Unicorn Frappuccino, Pink Drink, duo cup boba), but the fun isn’t over just yet! This August, Los Angeles foodies will have a brand new drink to add to their feeds.
Little Fluffy Head Cafe is one of the first cheese tea boba shops of its kind in Los Angeles, giving customers the familiar taste of deeply adored boba drinks-but with an added twist. Little Fluffy Head Cafe specializes in creating high-quality cheese tea drinks, pairing a refreshing tea base with a rich, creamy cheese topping. Cheese tea is a relatively new drink concept that has gained popularity in Asia, but has not been widely introduced in the United States. Little Fluffy Head is hoping to change this. Offering a dozen unique flavors of “Fluffy Tea” (their signature cheese tea drinks), the new Downtown LA cafe will provide boba aficionados with a variety of flavors to experiment with. Little Fluffy Head Cafe is projected to open its doors on August 30, 2017.
Jenny Zheng, 25, Founder of Little Fluffy Head Cafe, graduated from UCLA with a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering. For years, her daily routine involved a “go, go, go” approach with minimal time for rest due to her heavy course load. She would always look forward to going to the boba shop near campus to destress. The comforting environment, human connections, and delicious drinks allowed her to temporarily escape from the demands of school. While relaxing at the boba shop, she stopped to think about what she really wanted in life. She reflected on how happy being at the shop made her feel, and decided she wanted to share the same feeling with others. So upon graduation, instead of going a traditional route with her degree, Zheng decided to open up her own boba shop. She hopes Little Fluffy Head will provide guests with a place for comfort and escape from the day-to-day grind.
Little Fluffy Head Cafe is dedicated to providing the highest-quality, authentic tea drinks to its customers. The special brewing techniques they use guarantees the freshest tea in every cup.
Typically, tea must be steeped for 3-5 minutes before its fragrance is fully released. Freshly brewing tea is very time consuming, therefore a lot of bubble tea shops premake a big tank of tea at the beginning of the day. Brewed tea stays fresh for only about three hours after brewing. After three hours, it begins to taste stale. If you visit a boba shop right before closing, it’s highly possible that the tea is already stale and a lot of syrup was added to cover the staleness.
Instead of preparing a big tank of tea at the beginning of the day, Little Fluffy Head Cafe brews all of their tea in small batches to ensure freshness. For certain drinks, tea is even brewed for the individual cup when the customer places their order.
As a pioneer of cheese tea in Los Angeles and the United States as a whole, Zheng is excited to share her innovative drinks with everyone who visits her boba shop. If you’re bored of your usual drink order and are looking to try something different, be sure to stop by Little Fluffy Head Cafe and enter the world of refreshing cheese tea.
